从 1989 年 4 月 15 日到 6 月 4 日，在举世瞩目之下，成千上万的中国青年人走上了北京和其他城市的街头。 ＇ 20…1＇4
月 15 日胡耀邦骤然离世后的最初几天，示威者绝大多数是涉世不深的年轻人，他们要向这位刚离世的英雄和他所支持
的民主表达敬意。最初开始集会时，他们表现出对中共的尊重，游行过程秩序井然，并未给交通造成干扰。起先他们也
没有政治纲领，然而，随着示威日益扩大，要求变得越来越强烈，内容也越来越激进，示威者与当局的紧张关系不断升
级。冲突在 6 月 4 日达到顶点，军队在这一天向北京街头手无寸铁的平民开枪，恢复了秩序。
当时邓小平已 84 岁，他没有去街头会见示威学生，也没有插手中共每天作出的反应。但是他身居幕后，一直关
注着局势的演变，是最终的决策者。他并不赞同示威者的言行，他们都是邓所推动的改革开放和为经济增长提供基础的
